I think you need to pass something like: -J-Xmx1024M to the pack200 exe to have it recognize VM args

I was also able to reduce the size of our ZIP distribution from 73MB to 40MB using the pack200 ant task here:

https://java-pack200-ant-task.dev.java.net/

Make sure to use gzipoutput="true" and effort="9" to get the maximum effect. Also, the task seems to run out of memory pretty often.. tweaking Ant's VM args should probably fix it but I haven't tried yet.

Note that at that stage I received an email with a source code ETA of October 24th 2007 or earlier.
I will be waiting. Hopefully, all is well that ends well.

Someone pointed me to the recent case about BusyBox:
http://forum.snappymultimedia.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=499&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
and stated that one of the argument used by the company not meeting the terms of an open source license was that they were busy working on their product.
Same as here sounds like. This in turn triggered a lawsuit:

That could be anyone among 100's of companies. I am not trying to embarrass them publicly if there is no need to.

Actually someone also pointed me to the Software Freedom Law Center, in case the matter cannot be resolved peacefully. I have definitely no taste for a lawsuit, but asking their help could always be an option.

Dominikg:
That is a good point. I forgot about snail mail. :-)
Let's wait a couple more days and hope it will not come down to that.

You have good points here and their stonewalling shows that they know you're right. If not they'd have sent a 'we won't do it' kind of reply. The question of how long it may take them to send you the code is a good one though... in germany, you can ask for things a lot of times... as long as you don't give a due date, you'll have a hard time to enforce anything. Given the story here, i'd send them a Letter (snail mail, with confirmation of reciept) asking for the code within 2 weeks.

Wow. That sounds like a certain "rad" company I know of. I wondered if that would happen. I can't say I'm surprised.
